The Filter Core Cage & Cap Assembly is the genuine Bullfrog Spas component that gives a coreless filter its structure. Bullfrog’s coreless filter cartridges deliberately leave out the rigid plastic center core that traditional filters are built around — and this reusable cage is what takes its place inside the spa. The filter slips over the cage, the cap secures it, and the cage provides the support and water path the cartridge needs to do its job.

This part serves two distinct purposes:

Convert an older spa to coreless filters. If you have a 2013–2017 Bullfrog spa that originally used cored cartridges, adding this cage lets your spa accept the newer coreless filters (A / R / X part #10-00416, or STIL part #10-00810).
Replace a worn or damaged cage. On 2018-and-newer spas the cage came installed from the factory. If yours is cracked, warped, or missing its cap, this assembly is the genuine replacement.

Because the cage stays in the spa and only the filter media gets swapped, a single cage serves through many filter changes. It’s a buy-once part for most owners — which is exactly why it’s worth using the genuine Bullfrog assembly rather than improvising.

Pro Tip: If you’re switching a 2013–2017 spa to coreless filters, order the cage and the coreless filters together — the cage alone won’t filter anything, and the coreless filters won’t seat correctly without it. The two are a matched pair: the cage is the permanent structure, the filters are the consumable that rides on it.
